Hi Sue! Thanks for noticing the harmonies. I guess that's why the good Lord gave us 2 hands and 10 fingers, so we can carry the melody with a couple of fingers on the right hand while supporting the melodies with rich harmonies using the free fingers on the right hand (the ones not playing the melody) and all of the fingers on the left hand. I'm sure when you play the piano you use all of your fingers (not just basic 4-part-harmony-hymn-playing) in order to keep the harmonies sounding while pleasantly carrying the melody of the song! Hi Cor, Thanks so much for the comment! The song Jehovah Tsidkenu title was unfamiliar to me however after looking up some RUclips recordings I did recognize the song as a tune I learned as a young musician. The song is "Hiding in Thee" by Ira D. Sankey written in the year 1877. I love this song and will add it to my list of requests to record for RUclips. And I am familiar with the song "If That Isn't Love" which I first heard as a teenager in my church, if my recollection serves me correctly it was sung by a women's trio group for special music that Sunday. I'll add it to the list as well. Blessings to you and your family there in Australia. PS, Women's Basketball is all the rage here in the states right now and my wife and I watched the first WNBA pre-season game last night between Indiana and Texas - Our team lost at the buzzer, but during the game there was a high-light reel featuring WNBA inductees from Australia - I had no idea the sport was so big there. Those were the days for sure! My favorite version of the song "I'd Rather Have Jesus" is the George Beverly Shea recording with his wonderful deep voice. When I was a kid just starting piano my mother would watch some of the Billy Graham crusades on TV, I guess the mid 1960s. I'm sure some of my piano style was inspired by the music I heard from those broadcasts. Funny story, about 30 years ago when cell phones were just becoming "a thing" my wife and I were traveling for a mini concert tour to Florida. I was driving the old chevy van with my digital white grand piano in the back. We had borrowed one of those huge brick phones that hooked up to the cigarette lighter, and since we were "roaming" out of state the cost was like 99 cents a minute! I had my home phone land-line forwarded to the car phone as we were managing a few concert bookings over the phone (before internet was popular). Well I had released an album in 1987 of piano hymns, and my land-line phone number was on the back of the album jacket. Well it was like 9:30 pm, and the car phone rang, and the caller i.d. came up "Cliff Barrows" - I'm like, Hello, this is John Troutman, He said, Hi John, I'm Cliff Barrows, you may have heard of me from the Billy Graham crusades, I'm like, hold on a second, I gotta pull over! He said, a friend of mine is visiting and he asked me to listen to an Album with piano hymns played by John Troutman, He said, can you hear it playing in the background. I gulped! Yes Sir! Well, he said I sure would like to get a couple copies of your album to listen and pass out to a few of my friends. ...When I "came to"...LOL I said, absolutely sir, how many do you want, and where can I mail them? Well, he received the albums and sent back a nice card which we put in our music scrap book. But Some years later, I saw a video of Cliff Barrows and an elderly George Beverly Shea where he sang a snippet of "I'd rather have Jesus". which by the way the words of the song were written in the 1800s but the melody we all love was written by George Beverly Shea in 1939, and is still under copyright, so under current youtube policy the publishing company has to make a decision every time anyone plays or sings the copyrighted melody, 1. They can ignore it. 2. They can run ads before it and collect revenue from the ads. 3. They can tell RUclips to remove the video, which gives the channel a copyright strike, (Three strikes, RUclips shuts down your Channel). Perhaps one day Congress will update the laws to allow some kind of "fair use" policy so that musicians can share their interpretation of a well-known song without the threat of being silenced. But of course they would tell you, just get a video sync license (most publishers charge $50,000 per song for a video sync license) But we Seniors have to keep enough $ to get the monthly meds. LOL. I imagine one day, things will improve but probably won't hold my breath until then. LOL Thanks Lynn for the memory!

So glad you like it. When we get together at family functions, often one of my kids will say hey Dad, why don't you play Exodus. About 20 years ago my oldest son challenged me to a piano show-down - playing the Exodus song. I recently posted the video clip on my TikTok channel @johntroutmanpiano - I guess your kids always figure out a way to do some things better than their parents - LOL!

Hi Lynn, So good to hear from you! - Quite frankly, I wish there was a platform where I could play freely and play anything that was requested, Tiktok was becoming that platform but this week, about one third of all tiktok music went silent due to failed contract negotiations, such is life. It seems that the current rule making bodies can't keep up with the current technology and innovation bodiesof our generation! It used to be that on a saturday night the people would gather at a local barn and play music for fun, and the families would enjoy the music, maybe dance to a fiddle, and enjoy some good family fellowship. Now if someone hums a lullaby to a baby and it gets picked up by a camera, there is probably a check being generated to someone! LOL. Anyway - I have faith that the music industry will catch up some day with the technology developers and once again music will be able to be integrated into all of our life systems. Nonetheless, the tide seems to be turning a little. I have also been listening to some of the piano players you mentioned and I am hearing some songs that a year ago would have been removed by the powers that be - so perhaps I should try my hand at the music streaming once again. But so glad you found some other well-deserving musicians to meet the need during my absence. Speaking of Anthony, yes, gone too soon! He was an amazing musician with a wonderful talent and personality, and he certainly loved playing the piano. Perhaps in the great beyond I will have a chance to play a duet with Anthony on a heavenly Steinway made of gold! But I'm not asking to go today, LOL.
